Miley Cyrus, also famously known as her alter ego Hannah Montana, is one of the most recognized teens on the television these days. Her show "Hannah Montana," which airs on The Disney Channel, has catapulted this young girl from television star to pop star, too. The Real Miley Cyrus
Miley Cyrus, who’s real name is actually Destiny Hope Cyrus was born on November 23, 1992 in Franklin, Tennessee. She got her nickname "Miley" because her dad used to call her "Smiley," the nickname was shortened to "Miley" and it stuck, even into her acting and singing career. Her dad, the popular country star who had a top country hit, "Achy Breaky Heart" is Billy Ray Cyrus and her mom is Leticia "Tish" Cyrus. Miley has five siblings, both brothers and sisters.
Miley's Career
Her quest for stardom started out at a young age. When she was nine years old, Miley appeared in her dad’s television show called Doc and then in 2003, she appeared in Big Fish, director by Tim Burton. When Miley audition for Disney’s show, she auditioned for both the lead role and the role as the best friend, Lily. Disney initially passed on Miley because she was small, but ended up calling her back when she turned 12 and got the role because reminded the Disney executives of both Hilary Duff and Shania Twain. Her dad later took the role of her dad for the show. Interestingly enough, Miley has never taken formal singing lessons, but does write many of her songs and can play the guitar.
Miley Takes Faith, Family, and Friends Seriously
While Miley is a busy star, she does make time for her friends and family. She enjoys hanging out with her siblings and makes time to attend church with the family. Her faith is very important to her. In her spare time, Miley enjoys spending time with her many pets. She has everything from cats, to dogs to horses on her family farm. Her three dogs are named Minnie Pearl (after the late country star), Loco and Juicy. Miley also loves to shop with her friends and she enjoys watching movies.
Miley appears to be one kid star that is in the business for the long haul She has her own line of clothing and make up and goes on tour around the world as Hannah Montana. In 2007, Miley was ranked seventeen on the Forbes List of the top earning young superstars. She also has won numerous awards and recognitions in her short career.
