There is probably no teen star more popular than Zac Efron these days. Girls swoon over him and guys want to be like him. His picture is plastered on almost every tween and teen magazine, tween and teen website and in every tween girls lockers and bedroom. So, who is Zac Efron and how did he become the hottest male teen star? Here is a closer look.
Zac Efron was born on October 18, 1987 in San Luis Obispo to parents David and Starla. He has one brother, Dylan and enjoys his houseful of family pets, including two Australian Shepherds named Dreamer and Puppy and a cat named Simon. Zac’s full name is Zachary David Alexander Efron. He graduated from Arroyo Grande High School in 2006 and has since spent his time making movies and top music hits. (Reference: Internet Movie Database)
While he didn’t start his acting age at a very young age, Zac did start younger than some. At age 11, his parents noticed that Zac could sing and they signed him up for voice lessons. Not long after that, Zac got a role in the stage production of "Gypsy," then "Peter Pan," "Auntie Mame," "Little Shop of Horrors," and the "Music Man." Zac loved the stage and he had a knack for acting and singing. His stage performances soon turned to television where he appeared on several series including "ER," "Firefly," and "Summerland." Of course, everyone knows that he starred as the athletic and talented Troy Bolton in "High School Musical" in 2006, and again for "High School Musical 2" in 2007. He also played the talented Link in the popular movie "Hairspray." He is currently filming "High School Musical 3." Zac has also appeared on numerous talk shows and on the cover of magazines around the world. (Reference: TV.com)
When Zac is not busy filming or making hit music, you are likely to find him participating in his favorite sports including rock climbing, skiing and golf or working on his two cars, a 65 Ford Mustang and a Delorean. He also enjoys playing the piano and is learning how to play the guitar. Even though Zac is famous, he is still pretty grounded and enjoys normal things that most teens like. He has been quoted as saying that his most prized possession is his autographed baseball collection and he loves watching the San Francisco Giants. Interestingly enough, he was offered a record deal by American Idol judge, Simon Cowell, but he turned it down because he wanted to focus more on his acting.
