Throw Your Tween a Sports Hall of Fame PartyThe Perfect Birthday Theme for Boys Between the Ages of 9 to 12
If your tween boy is a sports fan, then plan a Sports Hall of Fame birthday party this year.
Many tween sports fans would appreciate a Sports Hall of Fame birthday party as they turn a year older. With so many ideas and sports to choose from, the possibilities are endless. Whatever your choice of sport, try the following tips for a fun and successful sports party. Sports Hall of Fame InvitationsFor the invitations, create a flier (printed on card stock) that states your son is being inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame, and that you request the presence of the party guest at the celebration. You can personalize each flier with the guest's name. Include the activities of the day, along with the pertinent party information (date, time, and place). You can even include your child's picture on the flier. Party DecorationsUse all types of sports equipment and gear to decorate for a Sports Hall of Fame birthday party. Ideas include:
When you decorate the table, top the table with glass and place sports cards and pictures underneath the glass. You can also create a football turf centerpiece by planting grass seeds in a rectangular pot. Give it plenty of time to grow before the party. Place a small football in the center of the grass. Sports ActivitiesPhoto Op Area: Set up an area where guests can have their picture taken in their favorite sports gear. Decorate an area filled with sports memorabilia and plenty of sports gear. If you have a large cardboard cutout of your favorite athlete, set it up and let everyone pose for pictures with the athlete. You can even get on your computer and create magazine covers or small trading cards using the picture. Sports Obstacle Course: Kids love obstacle courses, so set one up featuring all their favorite sports. Have them start with a football sprint, add cones and a soccer ball for dribbling, have them try to shoot a hole in one on a mini golf course and end it with a basketball shot. You can time each child and award a prize for the fastest, or make teams and have the teams race against each other. Cake and SnacksAlmost anything goes for a sports theme party. Set out melted queso and tortilla chips for nachos, let the kids make their own hot dogs and have popcorn and peanuts for a snack. When it is time for the cake, bake three small round cakes. Start by baking the mix in oven safe bowls. Each cake will need two halves. Put the halves together and decorate as sports balls. Cover one with orange frosting and add black shoestring licorice for a basketball, using white frosting and red licorice to make a baseball and use white and black frosting for a soccer ball. Put all three on a serving platter covered with tinted green coconut to resemble grass. Sports Hall of Fame Goodie BagsFill a treat bag with an inflatable sports ball, sport themed stickers, chocolate footballs and trading cards. You can even give kids inexpensive tickets to see a local sporting event or gift cards to a local sporting goods store. Another good idea is to give each kid a t-shirt and let them decorate it like a jersey. Have each kid sign it. A lot of tween boys just love sports of all kinds. This party gives you the opportunity to give your son a birthday theme that concentrates on all of his favorite sports at once. In addition, his friends will be delighted, too. Plan early and make sure your tween has a birthday party to remember. Find more birthday party ideas on Suite101.
